Textile Workshops using Silk and Devore VelvetThe members who have attended the sessions held so far have enjoyed the content and results of silk painting, Shibori dying, marbling and creating special effects. This activity is all about fun; the ability to draw and paint is unnecessary; it is easier than writing and a lot more enjoyable. The rewards of the programme of workshops are silk scarves, silk beads, tissue sachets, lavender pillows, cards and book covers. The display of work at the Stafford U3A Open Day (see picture) is indicative of the work done in the group. |

| During the latest series of workshops, surface designs on silk were created using various techniques with dyes, silk paints and other media. The photograph shows some members of the group with their work. The last session was devoted to constructing the silk into fashion or home accessories. | Some U3A members have joined the Guild of Silk Painters and were photographed on the Guild stand at the NEC passing on to the general public the knowledge they had gained during the U3A sessions. |
