Maths for Mathematicians

The group meets fortnightly on Fridays at 2pm

The group is for those who have studied Mathematics to A-level (and beyond) and who want to explore the subject again and the directions it has taken since our A-level days.

Topics might include Graph Theory, Numerical Algorithms, Logic, Information Theory/Communications Theory, Engineering and Scientific Applications, Probability and Statistics, Combinatorials, Chaos Theory and so on 'ad infinitum'.

Some of these topics have found their way into mathematics in schools, so do not worry about the level.

It is hoped that one or two external presenters can be recruited and that those attending will be able to contribute.

Definition of Tetrahedonism: The four pleasures of life - wine, women, song and mathematics. The group will only deal with the last one!!

Our next topic will be a gentle introduction to Quantum Theory.

Anyone interested in the subject can contact the group leader using the Contacts page of the website.
